Babel-On

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt9RxO4gJPo]

 So this is the long awaited last video on the Jewish prehistory passages in Genesis.  The tower of Babel is a story that has received much critique and debate, so hopefully this will help along the discussion.  Obviously, all the issues surrounding the text will not be fully addressed in my 5 minute video, so feel free to ask further questions.

  1. Mike,
    I’m glad to see you posted this on the Tower of Babel. Great insight. I could have used some of what you said for my sermon last semester. I especially like how you brought out at the end the aspect of rebellion against the mission of God. If we look to the bible with a missional interpretation of scripture in mind that aspect of the Babel narrative really comes out.

  2. Mark,

    Glad you liked it! It took me way too long to come out with, but here it is. I had seen some discussion on it elsewhere and thought it was a pretty pertinent topic. I havent fully decided what I will do for the next video. I may focus in on Abraham or I may just cruise through the rest of Redemptive History. I dont know. Any preferences?

  3. Have you ever read, “Adam and His Kin” by Ruth Beechick? She wrote it as a novel based upon archeaological evidence of early civilizations. It was written for children and young adults, for homeschoolers, I found it fascinating and a very “real” interpretation.

  4. I have not read it, but it sounds as though I should add it to my list. Does the plot extend as far forward as the Tower of Babel?
