Around the Wire…
It has been a slow wee for us over here at COAS, so I thought I’d bring some attention to some excellent writing and dialog in various places across the globe….
Anthony Bradley, with his characteristic bluntness, talks about the all-too-common perception that “grace” necessarily means “nice.” This guy really knows how to make a point with humor…
Mystery Of Iniquity, an “feminist agnostic Christian” (I hope I got that right), wrote a potentially controversial article on de-Conversion about the intentions behind the bible’s authorship, inerrency, and our own built in conscience. You may not agree with her conclusions, but her writing is certainly provocative, and I recommend it for anyone interested in having their thinking challenged a bit.
Justin @ Politics and Religion VERY concisely and clearly summarizes the importance of Christian Baptism. He makes a great point in that it’s meaning and significance is colossally underappreciated by many in the church.
Khanya, a South African Missionary and Orthodox Christian, has written a really good post on ikons and idols. It is largely a response to another post, but his take on it is very illuminating.
Peter has started an excellent conversation about the “methods” of loving God and people, debunking the misconception that programmatic involvement is the answer. Where do I sign up?
That’s all for now.
Go Rockies.

Brad,
Blessings to you!!
Thanks for the shoutout! I wrote it “in a mood” and certainly never expected the fallout my words engendered! It’s VERY general and although I think it’s generally accurate (I’m paraphrasing the book most of the time), pj certainly doesn’t.
Brad,
On another note, here’s an “incarnation” you might be interested in. Tell me if she sounds familiar.

MOI,
Hahaha… Yeah, I noticed that. I was really impressed when you dropped like 3 or 4 huge doctrinal controversies in the first paragraph! Hehe, that may explain some of the reactions you got.
But all of us can benefit from having our boundaries pushed every once in a while. And reading between the lines, it was easy to see the “heart” of why you were writing.
We’re happy to give the shoutout!
Oh wow… that’s a very nice site. Hehe, yes it is VERY familiar, yet also distinctly different… The author’s writing style and theme seems to have “evolved” somewhat as well.
I like it a lot, and count me “subscribed.”
Brad,
I seem to be “of two minds.” First, Paul over at D-C blog wanted to use a post I wrote at my now retired blog, so I said, “Sure.” But….over the months, I’ve had a change of heart so to speak. I was never really “deconverted” just edging toward the boundaries of it. Once you REALLY know Jesus, there’s no escaping it. I believe he has me on a very long leash!
Hahaha…. All I can say to that is “Amen!”
It’s tough to give up love-incarnate…
Love the David Arms print on the header. Scotty Smith’s interpretation about and interaction with the painting is also fantastic:

Oh do I feel like jumping into it here. Once you REALLY know Jesus. LOL! Oh oh! *giggle* Can’t help myself. Guess I REALLY never knew Jesus.

Moi, it won’t matter what you write at dC. You’re always going to get some people twitching. It’s your destiny.
Hi Brad.
Rebecca!!! Good to see you here!
I know, I know, I can’t help it. No matter how hard I try, Jesus keeps pulling me back in!!! Seriously, I’ve tried my hardest to let go or be let go of, but can’t. And I certainly don’t mean no one knows Jesus who leaves. Don’t beat me!!!!
Rebecca,
And you’re right. It is my destiny. (sigh).
Rebecca,
Welcome!!! I agree, that MOI has a particular talent for getting people “twitching” (talk about an uderstatement)…
MOI,
Embrace your destiny! We’ll make a Calvinist of you yet (hehe, I couldn’t help myself…)!
And everyone, seeing as how she has popped on here a couple times now, meet my wife, Hannah. She’s awesome. *waves*
She also brought up an excellent point about the new header on our website. It is a (trimmed) painting that an incredibly talented artist did using a tree and nature to depict and symbolize the redemptive history from creation to consummation. Really really good. Click on the link she provided to read more about the artist and his work!
Hi Hannah!!! Yes, love the print too! Beautiful.
Brad;
I don’t think it would be very hard at all to make me a Calvinist. I’ve got leanings…..
Twitchings you say?? Am I really that bad?
LOL! Moi, quit your leaning!
Would someone please get on one side, I’ll get the other. We don’t need her tipping over.
As for “twitching”…not you, them. LOL! They are the ones that get to twitching. Sorry, my bad, but you know my humour.

Brad, Moi is one of my favourite people. I don’t really care which way she leans…but Calvinist? Universe helps us!
Hey Brad,
thanks for the shout out…posts are few and far between…business school takes quite a bit of time haha.
Keep it up though…by the way, my book is almost done and I should be getting a release date soon…ill let you know!
Justin
